How to set up or change the data path in Lacerte
by Intuit•1• Updated 1 year ago
The data path is the location where the program stores the client tax files. You can change the data path in the settings.
If you have a network license, you can set the data path to a local drive, or if sharing data with other with other computers on the network, you can set it to a mapped network drive or UNC path, which must be setup beforehand.
Remember to change the data path on the other workstations to this same network location to make sure they are all accessing the same client database. Stand-alone license users can only set the data path to a local drive.
How to change your data path:
- From the Settings menu, select Options.
- Go to the Setup tab.
- Type in the new path in the Data Path box or select to browse the computer for a particular path.
- After selecting the path, select OK.
