
How to generate Form 8911 in ProSeries

This article will assist you with entering information related to Form 8911, Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit, in ProSeries.
What's new for Form 8911 for tax year 2024:
New for tax year 2024: Complete the new Schedule A (Form 8911) for each qualified alternative fuel vehicle refueling property placed in service during the year.
For 1040 returns claiming the credit from a K-1:
If the credit is from a K-1 enter the credit on the Schedule K-1 Worksheet.
If you have no personal credit, this form won't generate. The credit from passthrough entities prints directly on Form 3800, line 1s.
If the 1040 credit is not from a K-1:
- Open the client return.
- Press F6 to bring up Open Forms.
- Type 8911 to highlight the Form 8911.
- Select OK to open the Form.
- Select the QuickZoom to Schedule A (Form 8911) to enter property information.
- Enter the description of the property and select Create.
- Complete Part I, II, and III for this property.
- Repeat for each additional property.
For 1065 returns claiming the credit:
If the credit is from a K-1 from another entity:
- Open the client return.
- Press F6 to bring up Open Forms.
- Type 3800W to highlight the 3800 Wks.
- Select OK to open the Form.
- Scroll down to Line 1s - Form 8911, Part I Credit section.
- Complete line 1 and 2 for this credit.
If the credit is not from a K-1:
- Complete the 8911 manually outside of ProSeries
- Open the client return.
- Press F6 to bring up Open Forms.
- Type 3800 and highlight the 3800 Pt3.
- Select OK to open the Form 3800 Pt3.
- On line 1s for Form 8911, Part I manually enter the information from the 8911.

For 1120 returns claiming the credit:
If the credit is from a K-1 from another entity:
- Open the client return.

New for Form 3800 for tax year 2023:
- If you intend to make an elective payment election or a transfer election on Form 3800, you must complete a pre-filing registration before you file your tax return. See here for more information.
