How to enter Wisconsin PTE in ProSeries

This article will help you report the Wisconsin elective pass-through entity tax (sometimes called PTE, PTET, or SALT workaround) and the resulting credit in ProSeries.

To claim the credit on an individual return:

  1. Open the Wisconsin state return.
  2. Open the 1NPR page 3&4.
  3. Scroll down to line 58.
  4. Enter the PTE information on the Wisconsin Income Tax Withheld line 59 Smart Worksheet.

To generate the PTE for a partnership:

  1. Open the Wisconsin return.
  2. Open the Form 3.
  3. On question I mark the If the partnership is electing to pay tax at the entity level pursuant to s. 71.21(g)(a), Wis. Stats. box.
  4. Review the Schedule 3-ET.

To generate PTE for an S corporation:

  1. Open the Wisconsin return.
  2. Open the Form 5S.
  3. On question 7 mark the Electing to pay tax at the entity level pursuant s. 71.365(4m)(a) box.
  4. Review the Schedule 5S-ET.
