How to enter Michigan PTE in ProConnect Tax

Down below we'll go over how to report the Michigan elective pass-through entity tax (sometimes called PTE, PTET, or SALT workaround) and the resulting credit in ProConnect Tax.
Table of contents:
Individual
- From the Input Return tab, go to State & Local ⮕ Other Credits ⮕ MI Credits.
- Under the Michigan Nonrefundable Credits section, enter the amount in the Electing flow-through entity credit field.
- This amount flows to the MI-1040, line 29.
Partnership
- Complete and File Form 5772 through Michigan Treasury Online (MTO).

- To enter the withholding for each partner: from the Input Return tab, go to Schedule K-1 ⮕ Schedule K-1 Miscellaneous.
- On the respective partner tab, scroll down to the Michigan Information section.
- Enter the Withholding to be distributed for each partner.
S-Corporation
- Complete and File Form 5772 through Michigan Treasury Online (MTO).

- To enter the withholding for each shareholder: from the Input Return tab, go to State & Local ⮕ Other Forms ⮕ MI Schedule of Shareholders.
- Enter the Withholding to be distributed for each shareholder.
