I am trying to electronically file an S-Corp return in multiple states, including New Jersey. I am now, as of a couple weeks ago getting a critical diagnostic warning stating :State issued PIN is invalid or missing. A Valid pin is 10 alpha numeric characters in length. (ref. #58819) I called and talked with Lacerte and was told this is a New Jersey E*File issue that just started on May 14th however they did not know how to clear it. I called New Jersey and they gave me a 4 digit PIN for the company as well as the 10 digit New Jersey ID number however neither of those clear the diagnostic. Has anyone else had this issue or is there a work around so I can E*File. The agent in New Jersey was not aware of any other 10 Alpha Numeric number.

I just used the 10 digit New Jersey ID number. Waiting to see if it gets accepted by NJ but it went through.

Thanks for that. I tried using the 10 digit NJ number but I still had a critical E*File diagnostic. Cam I ask what screen you entered that in? I was using screen 3.2 and that didn't work.

Yes it was in Screen 3.2. I used the 10 digit number that came from the following link:

https://www.njportal.com/DOR/BusinessNameSearch/Search/BusinessName

Thanks, that is exactly what I did as well and I still get the critical diagnostic. I made sure I was on the most recent version etc. and it still doesn't work in my 2022 S-Corp module. Had no problem in 2021. For now I had to manually enter the NJ return on their website and submit it that way. Thanks again.

I am getting the same critical diagnostic, does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Maybe disable the efilie diagnostic so it will let you file it.

I was having the same issue. I entered the 10 digit #, in screen 3.2, but you also have to open the field and put NJ in for the diagnostic to clear - if you just enter the number, it defaults to the resident state.

Great that worked, but where did you get the 10 digit PIN from? Is it just the corporation's NJ entity ID?

Yes, another person posted the link to retrieve the state ID number if you do not have it.

I have it, thanks!

Thanks, that worked for me as well. I am happy it was a simple fix and will keep that in mind for the future.

alphanumeric, implies alpha & numeric.......so the 10 "digit" corporate number is probably not good enough to clear the error.

I do agree that this was not an issue a few months ago. in fact previously processed, submitted, error-free & accepted returns now have that diagnostic warning!

I disabled the e-file error warning and submitted.   Immediately after doing so I saw this across the screen: error occurred with background processing of EF Transmissions.

Now, waiting to see what happens. Not too confident.

my NJ CBT100 was accepted. ACK received.

disable the efile diag warning and submit.
