How are state tax payments added to Pre-Strategy Baseline?

SOLUTION:

Add new activity. Select W-2.  Input the total CA income tax withholding in the State Withholding Adjustment field.

COMMENT:  This is not intuitive, awkward and not specific to the income source.  As a result, I don't have a lot of confidence in this solution.  It needs to be fixed.

In order to make adjustments to the pre-strategy baseline for the states, you will click on the dropdown at the top as indicated by the red square in the screenshot attached to change the selector from "Federal" to the resident state.  Once you have done so, you will see the 2025 Baseline options for the resident state for estimated payments, additional tax payments, extension payments, and withholding adjustments.  You will also see the options to make modifications to make additions/subtractions to the federal income amount based upon state regulations at the top.  Once you have completed your state changes, you can toggle the selector back to "Federal" to go back to the full Federal view and those changes will now be reflected in the state.

The only time that you need to use the "New Activity" button is if an income item was not on the 2024 return and you need to add it for the 2025 return (i.e. Schedule C/D/E/F, K-1, 1099R, or NOL).
