How do I get e-filing status for myself and two other taxpayers? Those are the only returns I prepare each year. Does Intuit Pro Connect have a way of applying for e-file, or do I have to go through the IRS?

Your firm (could be just you as a sole proprietor) must get the EFIN from IRS. It is not a quick process, so get started soon. https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/become-an-authorized-e-file-provider
Each preparer must have a PTIN. https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/ptin-requirements-for-tax-return-preparers
Steps to get it online are in that link.

Those two other taxpayers don't need any of this, if you prepare and file their returns. This function is for the Preparer, not the taxpayer. It's not a status. It's an authorization. Then, the returns you file will show status, because you were authorized to submit them as e-filing.

I missed the taxpayer. Unlike TurboTax, ProConnect Tax Online is intended for professional tax preparers and in order to e-file, every customer would need their own EFIN.
