How do we tax 1099 tribal income received by members.

You enter the 1099MISC on the federal return and it should transfer over to the resident state return.

Is it a mandatory Social Security income or can we use Misc Income other.

The ones I see are in Box 3, Other Income, unless your client is doing work for the tribe, I would think that Other Income is where it belongs.

In addition to which Box it is listed in, it also depends on if this is settlement income, farming income, or their share as enrollment income; whether they live on the reservation or tribal lands that apply to this income; if they worked for the income or it is simply an entitlement; the Tribe and any agreements between that tribe and the Fed/State for that tribe.
