Client gives me both a W-2 and a W-2C.  For inputting into ProSeries, do I need to enter both or can I just enter one which has the corrected amounts.

My confusion is whether the IRS needs both to match documents.

Thanks

If you enter both, you are going to double up income.  Just go with the W-2C.

Does the IRS expect that two docs should be imputed because two docs were filed by the employer?

The W-2C corrects the original W-2 and the forms go to the Social Security Admin.  The IRS is only looking for the final numbers.

Don't you really need both, in some cases?  Because the W-2c tells employers "Only complete money fields that are being corrected."  So use the number on the W-2 unless it is corrected, and in that case use the one on the W-2c.

My question is really can I enter all the info from the W-2 and W-2C on one input screen or must I use two.

Thanks

Just one screen needed.

The question turned out to be a lot more complicated than I thought when I first read it 😬
