Try Settings > Tax Return > Tax Return Options > down to 'Computer Date as PIN Signature Date. Change it to yes.
That may work, but it will also print that date on the F 8879 AND use that date for allowing the return to be efiled. I do NOT do that, as physically entering the client signature date from a signed F 8879 is the LAST step before efiling a return (after verifying all numbers. That procedure has saved my tush a few times π

Enter it as a minus date " -020320" In the Invoice, Letter, Filing Instructions screen Date field
The more I know the more I donβt know.

Thank you both for your responses. The signature date is automatic on the preparer file copy. However, it is not automatic on the client copy. I would like for it to be automatic on the client copy too so I don't have to manually fill it in. I could have sworn that in prior years the date was automatic. It was not necessary to use the F 8879 settings or manually go into Invoice, Letter, Filing Instructions for each tax return.

Just another example of Lacerte's drive to mediocrity. Features that made it an outstanding product seem to vanish in a cloud of intuit ads. Pretty soon it will turn into turbo tax with a funny jingle!
