Can you expand your question a bit?
Are you using the 2017 software to try to see a list of ALL client's projected 2018 tax "liability" and 2017 "payments" made?
If not, can you clarify exactly what you are wanting to do/see?
It may also be helpful to clarify what you mean by "liability" and "payments".
Does "liability" mean total income tax before any payments or credits? After payments and credits? Including other taxes and penalties? Something else?
Does "payments" mean withholding plus tax due? Or just tax due when filing the tax return? Including credits or not? Something else?

Install Lacerte 2018
From Lacerte 2017, proforma the clients you want to 2018.
From Lacerte 2018 enter estimated income & deductions to a client and confirm estimated payments. Create a column in the Client Screen for something like TOTAL TAX and TOTAL PAYMENTS. I don't think that will pick up the 2017 payments, but that might be what you have input for the 2018 estimation.
Answers are easy. Questions are hard!
