Has anyone found software that does a good job of scanning and importing a client's data? I've even seen a couple that organize your original documents in to a cohesive file or produces an open item list based on prior year return (nice touch, probably a decent time saver).

I've seen a demo of TruePrep (Lacerte CPE) and Sureprep (no free trial offered), but have yet to test them or Lacerte's option, and I've seen GruntWorx mentioned....but would appreciate any feedback on these or other programs that might be useful (and cost efficient).

What's your definition of "good job"?

I used Lacerte's years ago. I don't think it was called that then. It was OK.

I have seen SurePrep and Gruntworks, too. One charges per file and one charges per page. I think they say accuracy is about 90-95%. Getting back a bookmarked pdf is nice.

It also depends on your workflow and staffing and complexity of returns.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
