Updates are supposed to be automatic.  THEY ARE NOT.

I go to manually install.  They download and then stop.  I reboot and try again.  I get an error message.

I use the Lacerte Toolhub and force the install.

30 minutes later I can work.  HOW IS THIS SAVING ME TIME!!!!

Background updates are a new feature for Lacerte 2024. Here's how to schedule or disable them: 
Open Lacerte 2024.

  1. From the Tools menu select Lacerte Updates.
  2. Select Background Updates
  3. Select Schedule Background Updates or Disable Auto Background updates. See the article New for 2024: Lacerte Background updates.

If you want to force the install on your own time, see what's in the latest update here: 2024 Lacerte Tax Program Update is Live and Available for Download. You can get an email update when there's a new version available by clicking the Settings Icon to Subscribe to the thread.

I have them scheduled.  What I'm saying is they are not working as they are supposed to.  Because they are not working properly, the last update took 30 productive minutes out of my day.

I've had the same problem. I've reinstalled four times and right now it looks like I will have to again. I've tried scheduling the updates, manually updating, leaving it in the default new install settings, and eventually, I get a failed efile with an error message that says "A newer version of the program is available" even though it is Monday and the newer version probably came out last Thursday.  It really sucks and makes me wonder why we pay over 30k for this each year.

Do a FORCE install. Then restart the computer. If that does not work, call support.
