With the increase in forms and years available for e-file Lacerte needs to add at least a six-digit date of filing. The current month/day format does not provide sufficient information to determine when time-based statutes expire. The year a return is filed becomes critical information for situations where the 3- or 5-year period statute may cause issues with future period filings. Lacerte, please add at the lease a two-digit year in this date stamp. See example of a federal tax filing. From this example you are unable to tell when the return was filed other than March 13. Here the year is critical.
