in california, is unemployment a community property , if so then we can divide the unemployment and take 2 exclusions.

But, but, but .... if that's true .... how will IRS ever figure out how to amend joint returns (or MFS, for that matter) automatically, so that people don't have to file amended returns?
Yes, of course it's community property, in the absence of a prenuptial (or postnuptial, for that matter) agreement otherwise.

Anyone know if or when Lacerte will update the program to split the unemployment income between spouses and exclude $10,200 from each on a joint return?
