Client lived in Austria, paid childcare there and I want to use on Form 2441. However, cannot get rid of diagnostic requiring provider EIN. They did not move nor refuse, just do not have an EIN.

Typing 'FOREIGNUS' in EIN box does not remove critical diagnostic. I assume you meant to put it in the EIN box?
My choices seem to be provide EIN, or tick one of boxes that
1. taxpayer unable to get EIN, since provider moved
2. Provider refuses to give EIN

Yes I did mean put that in the EIN box. It works in other places so I thought it might work here.
I guess you need to check one of those boxes even though both are not correct answers.
The more I know the more I don’t know.

Per Internal Revenue Manual, for a foreign care provider you need to enter “LAFCP” ( short for Living Abroad Foreign Care Provider). Also, complete the Foreign section on Screen 33.
