I am getting an error message when I try to install updates to 2020 Lacerte. The program downloads the updates but when it starts to install the updates the following message comes up and the updating closes.
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

This is one reason that I decline the update offered in the program. Exit the program and run 20YY Web Setup. It is much cleaner.
Try running 2020 Web Setup and see if it works. If not try the new Lacerte Tool Hub https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/help-articles/help/fix-common-problems-and-errors-with-the-l... ESPECIALLY the web setup with FORCE that it offers.

Were you able to resolve? I'm having the exact same issue. I tried the steps outlined in the first reply and they didn't do the trick.

If that fails, call support tomorrow and they should be able to help. It will mean long wait time - call as early in the morning as you can.

I ended up calling Lacerte Support. It took several tries of renaming file folders and then getting back into Lacerte before the updating worked.
