One of my staff accidentally e-filed a state return twice. Naturally the state rejected "for duplicate social security numbers filed". Does an amended return need to be file now?

A reject is the same as never being filed...so if you filed once and it was accepted, the second filing never happened...youre all good.

Only if the first one that WAS accepted is incorrect.
The second one was *rejected* meaning it wasn't 'filed'.

Highlight the client and press F4, look at the e-file Status tab, then click the State (below US) in the e-file Returns section. It should reveal all that happened.
