Since 1975, my family\u2019s firm, Boscia & Boscia, PC<\/a>, has been a loyal user of Intuit Lacerte\u00ae Tax, starting as one of its earliest adopters with account number 371. While Lacerte remains a powerful and effective tool, my brother and I chose to transition to Intuit ProConnect\u2122 Tax<\/a> to fully embrace a cloud-native workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary motivation behind this change was the need for greater simplicity and flexibility; we wanted to eliminate the costs and technical friction associated with managing local servers, IT hardware, and VPNs for remote access. Now, our team can securely work on tax returns from anywhere<\/a>\u2014whether at home, in the office, or even while traveling\u2014simply by logging into a browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The switch has already delivered noticeable efficiency gains, particularly through the ability to open multiple returns simultaneously in different tabs for easy cross-referencing. We also use features like the “In Use” filter, which hides empty fields to create a more focused review process, and Smart Return to help automate data entry. While I still miss some of Lacerte\u2019s advanced data filtering and CSV export capabilities, the benefits of automatic background updates and faster performance have made the transition worthwhile. Ultimately, this move was about positioning our firm for the next decade, ensuring we stay modern and technology-driven as the industry evolves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
