Maybe their needs have evolved or maybe they are frustrated with their current firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of heading to Google and typing \u201caccountant for my small business,\u201d they open a chat window and ask ChatGPT, \u201cWhich local tax firm is best for a growing e-commerce business?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>From a list of links to a direct answer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/tag\/artificial-intelligence\/\">Artificial intelligence<\/a> doesn&#8217;t give them a list of links to sort through. It gives them a direct answer: a synthesized recommendation. This is the new reality of search, driven by Large Language Models (LLMs) such as <a href=\"https:\/\/chatgpt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ChatGPT<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/claude.ai\/login?returnTo=%2F%3F\" target=\"_blank\">Claude<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gemini.google.com\/app\" target=\"_blank\">Gemini<\/a>. These AI systems are becoming the new front door for client discovery. When an LLM recommends a firm, it carries an implied authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your firm isn&#8217;t part of that recommendation, you\u2019re essentially invisible to a huge and growing segment of the market. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/How-to-attract-and-maintain-Gen-Z-talent-in-your-tax-and-accounting-firm.pdf\">Gen Zs<\/a>, who are also today\u2019s young business owners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seo.com\/ai\/ai-seo-statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\">perform up to 31% of their searches<\/a> on AI platforms such as ChatGPT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This marks a fundamental shift from traditional SEO. For years, the goal was to rank on a list of blue links, leaving the user to click and do the research. Today, the goal is to <em>be the answer<\/em>. The AI does the research, and you want its conclusion to feature your firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>How to become the LLM\u2019s recommended firm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you ensure your firm gets recommended? It\u2019s not about gaming an algorithm; it\u2019s about doubling down on what makes you a great firm in the first place and making sure the LLMs can see it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are four ways to start optimizing your firm for this new age of AI search:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Elevate your expertise:<\/strong> LLMs are trained to recognize and prioritize <strong>Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (what Google calls E-E-A-T)<\/strong>. This is your biggest advantage. Publish detailed articles answering specific client questions. Update your partner and leadership bios to showcase credentials, specializations, and speaking engagements. Prove you are the expert, and the AI will take notice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure your digital footprint:<\/strong> AI relies on clean, structured data to understand who you are, what you do, and where you are located. Ensure your firm\u2019s name, address, and phone number are perfectly consistent everywhere online\u2014from your website to your <a href=\"https:\/\/business.google.com\/en-all\/business-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Business Profile<\/a> to industry directories. This digital consistency builds trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Think and write conversationally:<\/strong> People use natural language when talking to an AI. Your website content should reflect this.
