It&#8217;s time to put your feet up, relax, and maybe take some time off. However, don&#8217;t forget about some important tax deadlines in May, and be sure to pass this list along to your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The May PDFs of the tax and compliance deadlines has a heading of &#8220;May 2023,&#8221; <strong>but these dates are for May 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/May-2024-Tax-and-Compliance-Deadlines.pdf\">May<\/a>, it is recommended that you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct a post-season review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate <a href=\"https:\/\/accountants.intuit.com\/\">tax software<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind individual clients of the June 17 estimated tax payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alert clients who need to file <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/tax-law-and-news\/what-to-tell-clients-about-amended-returns\/\">amended returns<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>Key Compliance Dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, May 1<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on April 24-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, May 3<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on April 27-30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, May 8<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on May 1-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, May 10:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tipped employees who received $20 or more in tips during April report them to the employer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-prior\/f4070--2005.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 4070<\/a>, <em>Employee&#8217;s Report of Tips to Employer.<\/em> Employers file <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f941.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 941<\/a>, <em>Employer&#8217;s Quarterly Federal Tax Return<\/em>, for the first quarter of 2024 if tax for the quarter was deposited in full and on time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on May 4-7.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, May 15:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on May 9-11.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monthly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax for April.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social security, Medicare, and withheld income tax<\/strong>.
