Along the way, don&#8217;t forget about important tax and compliance deadlines. Be sure to share this list with your clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/March-2024-Compliance-and-Tax-Dates.pdf\">March<\/a>, it is recommended that you:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>File <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/tax-law-and-news\/tax-extensions-what-your-clients-need-to-know\/\">extensions<\/a> for individuals who have not met the deadline for return preparation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remind individual clients of April 15 estimated tax payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File extensions for <a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/tax-law-and-news\/s-corporation-essentials-for-tax-pros-part-2\/\">S corporations<\/a> or partnerships that will not meet the March 15 filing deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>Key Compliance Dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, March 1<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on February 24-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, March 6<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on February 28-March 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, March 8<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on March 2-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday, March 11:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monthly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax for February.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tipped employees who received $20 or more in tips during February report them to the employer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-prior\/f4070--2005.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 4070<\/a>, <em>Employee&#8217;s Report of Tips to Employer<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday, March 15<\/strong>\u2014Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on March 6-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday, March 16:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on March 9-12.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Partnerships.<\/strong> File a 2023 calendar year return (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1065.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 1065<\/a>, <em>U.S. Return of Partnership Income<\/em>). Provide each partner with a copy of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1065sk1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Schedule K-1 (Form 1065)<\/a>, <em>Partner&#8217;s Share of Income, Deductions, Credits, etc.<\/em>, or substitute Schedule K-1 (Form 1065), and, if applicable, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1065sk3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Schedule K-3 (Form 1065<\/a>), <em>Partner&#8217;s Share of Income, Deductions, Credits, etc.\u2014International<\/em>, or substitute Schedule K-3 (Form 1065). To request an automatic six-month extension of time to file the return, file <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f7004.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 7004<\/a>, <em>Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File Certain Business Income Tax, Information, and Other Returns<\/em>. Then, file the return and provide each partner with a copy of their final or amended (if required) Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) and, if applicable, Schedule K-3 (Form 1065) by Sept. 16.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>S corporations.<\/strong> File a 2023 calendar year income tax return (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1120s.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 1120-S<\/a>, <em>U.S. Income Tax Return for an S Corporation<\/em>) and pay any tax due. Provide each shareholder with a copy of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1120sk3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">S<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1120ssk.pd\" target=\"_blank\">chedule K-1 (Form 1120- S)<\/a>, <em>Shareholder&#8217;s Share of Income, Deductions, Credits, etc.<\/em>, or substitute Schedule K-1 (Form 1120-S), and, if applicable, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f1120sk3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Schedule K-3 (Form 1120-S)<\/a>, <em>Shareholder&#8217;s Share of Income, Deductions, Credits, etc.\u2014International<\/em>, or substitute Schedule K-3 (Form 1120-S). To request an automatic six-month extension of time to file the return, file Form 7004 and deposit what you estimate you owe in tax. Then, file the return; pay any tax, interest, and penalties due; and provide each shareholder with a copy of their Schedule K-1 (Form 1120-S) and, if applicable, Schedule K-3 (Form 1120-S) by Sept. 16.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>S corporation election.<\/strong> File Form 2553 to elect to be treated as an S corporation beginning with calendar year 2024.
