There are numerous deadlines for February, so review the list below and pass along this list to your clients.<\/p>\n<p><b>In <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/taxprocenter.proconnect.intuit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/February-Tax-and-Compliance-Deadlines.pdf\"title=\"\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener\"><b>February<\/b><\/a><b>, it\u2019s recommended that you:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remind individual clients who haven&#8217;t returned tax preparation packets or scheduled appointments.<\/li>\n<li>Review pros and cons of S corporation election with eligible corporate clients.<\/li>\n<li>Remind partnerships of March 15 filing deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Key Compliance Dates:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Monday, Feb. 1:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employers file <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f941.pdf\"title=\"\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Form 941<\/a>, <i>Employers Quarterly Federal Tax Return<\/i>, for the fourth quarter of 2020 (if tax deposited in full and on time, file by Feb. 10).<\/li>\n<li>Qualifying small employers file annual Form 944 for 2020 (in lieu of quarterly Form 941s).<\/li>\n<li>Employers file <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f944.pdf\"title=\"\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Form 940<\/a>, <i>Employer\u2019s Annual Federal Tax Return<\/i>, for 2020 (if tax was deposited in full and on time, file by Feb. 10).<\/li>\n<li>Furnish copies of Form W-2 for 2020 to employees.<\/li>\n<li>Employers file Copy A of all Forms W-2 issued for 2020 with the Social Security Administration. Paper Forms W-2 should be accompanied by a Form W-3.<\/li>\n<li>Furnish information returns to payees for payments made in 2020.<\/li>\n<li>File information returns with the IRS for nonemployee compensation paid in 2020.<\/li>\n<li>Individuals file individual income tax return for 2020 in lieu of Jan. 15 estimated tax payment.<\/li>\n<li>File <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/f945.pdf\"title=\"\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Form 945<\/a>, <i>Annual Return of Withhold Federal Income Tax<\/i>, for 2020 to report income tax withheld on nonpayroll items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Wednesday, Feb. 3 <\/b>\u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on Jan. 27-29.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday, Feb. 5 <\/b>\u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on<b> <\/b>wages paid on Jan. 30-Feb. 2.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, Feb. 10:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employers file Form 941 for the fourth quarter of 2020 if tax for the quarter was deposited in full and on time.<\/li>\n<li>Tipped employees who received $20 or more in tips during January report them to the employer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-access\/f4070_accessible.pdf\"title=\"\"  target=\"_blank\" rel=\"false noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Form 4070<\/a>, <i>Employee\u2019s Report of Tips to Employer<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li>Employers file Form 940 for 2020 if tax for the year was deposited in full and on time.<\/li>\n<li>Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on Feb. 3\u20135.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Friday, Feb. 12 <\/b>\u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on\u00a0wages paid on Feb. 6-9.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday, Feb. 16:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Claims for 2020 exemption from income tax withholding expire; employers must begin withholding tax unless employee has submitted a new W-4 to continue exemption for 2021.<\/li>\n<li>Monthly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax for January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Thursday, Feb. 18<\/b> \u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on\u00a0wages paid on Feb. 10\u201312.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday, Feb. 19<\/b> \u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on\u00a0wages paid on Feb. 13\u201316.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, Feb. 24<\/b> \u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on\u00a0wages paid on Feb. 17-19.<\/p>\n<p><b>Friday, Feb. 26 <\/b>\u2013 Semiweekly depositors deposit FICA and withheld income tax on wages paid on Feb. 20\u201323.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> Because Feb. 28 falls on a Sunday, end-of-month filings are pushed to Monday, March 1.
