Check out these important tax and compliance deadlines for July 2025, and be sure to share this list with your clients. In July, it is recommended that you: File Q2 excise tax and payroll returns: Prepare and file Forms 720, Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return; 941, Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return; and 5500, Annual Return/Report of Employee Benefit Plan. S Corporation and partnership planning: Confirm that clients are on track for the September 15 extension deadline. Mid-year payroll audit: Conduct payroll compliance checks to avoid year-end issues. Enroll in a specialized tax course: Dive into any area you haven’t explored to expand your expertise, such as cryptocurrency taxation or international tax laws. Key Compliance Dates Thursday, July 10—Tips reporting for June. Monday, July 14—Regular method excise taxes deposit for the last 15 days of June. Tuesday, July 15—Monthly payroll tax deposit for June (Form 941). Friday, July 25—Communications and air transportation taxes deposit for the last 15 days of June. Tuesday, July 29—Regular method excise taxes deposit for the first 15 days of July. Thursday, July 31: Form 941 for Q2 2025 due. Form 720 (Q2 excise tax) and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Fee due. Form 5500 for employee benefit plans (if applicable). Wagering tax (Form 730, Monthly Tax Return for Wagers) and Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return) for June due.
