States supported for S Corporate composite returns in Lacerte

This article outlines which state composite returns Lacerte supports for S corporation clients and where to enter elections or shareholder details in the program.

Alabama (PTE-C)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select the checkbox for each applicable shareholder.

Arizona (Form 140NR)
- Not supported.

California (Form 540NR)
- Not supported.

Connecticut (CT-1065 / CT-1120SI)
- Supported.
- In Screen 42.211, Connecticut Miscellaneous, select S corporation elects to remit income tax on behalf of its nonresident members (Schedule CT-NR).
- Lacerte treats all shareholders with Member Type NI as nonresident individuals for Schedule CT-NR. Update Member Type in Screen 5, Shareholder Information, under Connecticut Information, if needed.

Colorado (Form 106)
- Supported.
- In Screen 46.261, Colorado K-1 Overrides, select Include nonresident shareholder on composite filing for each applicable shareholder.
- Lacerte completes Form DR 0106, Part II Composite Nonresident Income Tax Return.
- For each applicable shareholder, Colorado tax remitted appears on Line 38 of the Shareholder’s Share of Income section.

Delaware (200-C)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Filer? for each applicable shareholder.

Florida
- No composite return.

Georgia (IT CR)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Filer? for each applicable shareholder.

Idaho (41S)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Return? for each applicable shareholder.

Illinois (1023-C)
- Eliminated for tax years ending on or after 12/31/2014.

Indiana (IT-20S Schedule Composite)
- Supported automatically for nonresident shareholders.

Iowa
- Not supported.

Kentucky (Form 740NP-WH / 42A201)
- Supported automatically for nonresident shareholders.

Louisiana
- Not supported.

Maine
- Supported.
- In Screen 46.161, Maine K-1 Overrides, select Shareholder included in composite return (nonresidents only) for each applicable shareholder.

Maryland (Form 510C)
- Not supported.

Massachusetts (Form NRCR)
- Supported.
- In Screen 1, Client Information, select Massachusetts Composite under Electronic Return.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Filer?
- Lacerte assumes the shareholder’s income is passive unless otherwise indicated. If income is nonpassive, select Nonpassive income (loss) under Nonresident Composite Return (MA NRCR) in Screen 46.191, MA Schedule K-1. This determines the amounts that print on Form MA NRCR, Schedule E.

Michigan (Form 807)
- Not supported.

Mississippi (85-105)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information (Mississippi Information), select Omit N/R Agreement and Composite Return? for each applicable shareholder.
- In Screen 42.301, Mississippi Miscellaneous, select Composite Return. Lacerte checks the applicable box on Form 84-105 and calculates the composite return. A supporting statement prints listing nonresident shareholders, identification numbers, and taxable income.

Missouri
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select File Composite Return?
- If this field is blank, Lacerte includes the nonresident shareholder on Forms MO-1NR and MO-2NR unless a withholding exemption applies. To exempt a shareholder from withholding, select Nonresident Shareholder Exempt from Withholding in Screen 48.282, Missouri Taxes.

Montana (PTE, Schedule IV)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Filer?

New Jersey (Form NJ-1080C)
- Not supported.

North Carolina (CD-401S)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select File Composite Return?

North Dakota (Form 60)
- Supported.
- In Screen 42.411, North Dakota Miscellaneous, select Composite Return to indicate this on Form 60, Page 1.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Composite Filer? for each nonresident individual or trust shareholder that elects to be included. Lacerte computes composite income tax on Form 60, Schedule KS, Column 8.

Ohio (IT 4708)
- Supported.
- In Screen 1, Client Information, select Ohio Composite under Electronic Filing if the Form IT 4708 is filed electronically.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information (Ohio Information), select File Composite Return? for each applicable shareholder.
- In Screen 49.128, Ohio Passthrough Entity/Composite Returns, select:
- 1 to print IT-1140,
- 2 to print IT 4708, or
- 3 to print both forms.

Oklahoma (512-S)
- Not supported.

Oregon (Form OC)
- Not supported.

South Carolina
- Not supported.

Utah (Schedules A and E)
- No composite return.

Vermont (BI-471)
- Supported.
- In Screen 42.361, Vermont Miscellaneous, select Elect to file composite return. This is required if there are 50 or fewer nonresident shareholders.
- If there are more than 50 nonresident shareholders, the composite return generates automatically.

Virginia (Form 765)
- Not supported.

West Virginia (IT-104NRC)
- Supported.
- In Screen 5, Shareholder Information, select Omit N/R Agreement and Composite Filer?
- When amending IT-140NRC, in Screen 79.501 select Composite amended and enter the applicable amounts in the West Virginia Amended Composite (IT-140NRC) section.

Wisconsin (PW-1)
- Supported.
- In Screen 47.233, Nonresident Withholding Pass-Thru Income, select Print PW-1.
- To include PW-1 with the electronic return, in Screen 1, Client Information, select Wisconsin PW-1 under the Electronic Return section.

Wisconsin (Form 1NCNS)
- Not supported.
