Entering individual Oregon Form 40 Residential Energy Credit in Lacerte

This article will assist you with entering Oregon Form 40, Residential Energy Credit, in the Individual module of Lacerte.

All credit codes have changed beginning with tax year 2015. For a complete list of codes, refer to the Oregon Publication OR-CODES.

Follow these steps to enter the OR Residential Energy Credit:

  1. Go to Screen 53, Other Credits.
  2. Select Oregon Other Credits from the left St. Credits box.
  3. Hold down Ctrl+E in the Other carryforward credits (Ctrl+E) field (code 41).
  4. Select Residential Energy [861].
  5. Enter the corresponding amount(s) in the applicable Previous Year Amount and/or Current Year Amount columns.
  6. Click OK.

This credit flows to Schedule OR-ASC, Section 4: Carryforward credits (codes 835 - 865), line(s) 4. The allowed credit amount will flow to Form 40, line 28.

Refer to Oregon Publication OR-17 for more information about the Residential Energy Credit.

To enter the OR Residential Energy Credit (Code 729):

  1. Go to Screen 53, Other Credits.
  2. Click on Oregon Other Credits under St. Credits from the left navigation panel.
  3. Hold down Ctrl+E in, OR Other Credits (Ctrl+E).
  4. Select Residential Energy [729] from the drop down menu under the Description column.
  1. Enter the corresponding amount under the Amount column.
  2. Click OK to the Other Credits window.

This credit flows to Form 40, Line 39 Other Credits with a Code 729.

  1. Go to Screen 53, Other Credits.
  2. Click on Oregon Other Credits under St. Credits from the left navigation panel.
  3. Hold down Ctrl+E in, OR Other Credits (Ctrl+E).
  4. Enter 729 under the Description column.
  5. Enter the corresponding amount under the Amount column.
  6. Click OK to the Other Credits window.
