In this article, you can find solutions to frequently asked questions about entering Oregon credits in the Individul module of Lacerte.
Oregon Residential Energy Credit (Form 40)
- Go to Screen 53, Other Credits.
- Select Oregon Other Credits from the left St. Credits box.
- Hold down Ctrl+E in the Other carryforward credits (Ctrl+E) field (code 41).
- Select Residential Energy [861].
- Enter the corresponding amount(s) in the applicable Previous Year Amount and/or Current Year Amount columns.
- Select OK.
Other State Tax Credit (OSTC)
Steps for full-year Oregon residents:
- Go to Screen 52, Other State Tax Credit.
- Enter the income subject to tax in the other state.
- Enter the amount of tax paid to that state.
- Review Form 40 to confirm the credit is calculated.
Steps for part-year Oregon residents:
- Go to Screen 55, Part-Year/Nonresident Information.
- Enter Oregon and out-of-state income allocations.
- Go to Screen 52, Other State Tax Credit.
- Enter income and tax paid to the other state.
- Review Form 40 to confirm the credit is calculated using part-year rules.
Where can I enter the Qualified Research Credit from an S-Corporation?
The Qualified Research Credit is not in Oregon's list of allowed current-year credits. However the Qualified Research Credit is available as a carryover to s-corporation shareholders. The credits Oregon allows are listed here on Oregon's website: https://www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/individuals/pages/credits.aspx
The Qualified Research Credit Carryover for S-corp Shareholders can be entered in Screen 53.021, Oregon Credits in the field Other carryforward credits (Ctrl+E).
