Troubleshooting State Returns Not Printing in ProSeries

by Intuit Updated 3 weeks ago

This article will help you troubleshoot issues with state returns not printing in ProSeries

State return with draft forms not printing

Many states requested that only final approved versions of their forms can be print from professional tax software. To follow the state's recommendations, while helping our preparers maintain their workflow as much as possible, we'll continue to provide draft versions of all forms. However, some states will have the print option turned off for any nonfinal form until it is final and approved by the state agency. For more information, please see the following knowledge base article

State requirements for printing draft forms from professional tax software

State return not printing when below filing threshold

Many states have a minimum filing threshold. If the taxpayer is below the filing threshold, the state either might not print or in some cases the state will print but with many lines not completed. If you have a return with low income and the return is not printing as expected, please review the state instructions to ensure that the return is not below the filing threshold

Checking forms availability

Every year, the IRS releases tax forms on a rolling basis. Forms and schedules can sometimes be delayed and may not be final or ready to file. Update your ProSeries software regularly to ensure you have the latest release and forms, and check the schedule to learn when forms will be available.

To verify if a state form is available in ProSeries, open the ProSeries Tax form finder link.
