How to enter Nominee Interest Not Reported on a 1098

Enter nominee interest on Schedule A to show mortgage interest you paid on behalf of another person and generate the required explanation statement.

To enter the interest paid as a nominee;

1. Go to Screen 25, Itemized Deductions
2. Scroll to the Interest section
3. In the field labeled Home Mortgage interest not on Form 1098 (Ctrl+E), press Ctrl + E and enter:

• Payee's Name
• Payee's SSN
• Complete address
• Amount paid

This information will appear on the Schedule A, line 11, and will be included in the total on line 15.

To add an additional statement detailing the nominee information and circumstances go to Screen 47, Notes, and mark it as a statement before typing your statement of circumstances
