
Entering Medical Expenses for an Individual return in ProConnect Tax

To enter HSA or MSA Contributions:
- Enter the tax return
- Go to Deductions > HSA/MSA/LTC Contracts (1099-SA, 5498-SA)
- Here, you can access Form 8889 and Form 8853
- The entry Type of coverage: 1=self-only, 2=family is mandatory to generate Form 8889
- Taxpayer contributions should be entered in HSA contributions that you made (1=maximum)
To enter MSA distributions:
- From the left of the screen, select Deductions and choose HSA/MSA/LTC Contracts (1o99-SA, 5498-SA).
- Choose Medical Savings Accounts (8853).
- Scroll down to the MSA Distributions section
- Enter the Total MSA distributions received (1099-SA, box 1).
- Enter any qualified medical expenses in Total unreimbursed qualified medical expenses.
