Common questions on Form 1040-V in ProConnect Tax
by Intuit• Updated 2 months ago
ProConnect Tax will automatically generate a 1040-V payment voucher showing the amount due on an original 1040 filing. If the 1040-V isn't printing, make sure that:
- The 1040 shows an amount owed, rather than a refund or even return, and
- The return isn't marked for electronic payment on the Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit screen.
Table of contents:
To override the amount on Form 1040-V:
- From the Input Return tab, go to General ⮕ Misc. Info./Direct Deposit.
- Click the Miscellaneous tab at the top of the input screen.
- Enter the amount in Form 1040 payment (defaults to amount due) [O].
Can I change 1040-V payment address for previous years?
There is no manual way to override the address on the 1040-V. ProConnect does not update addresses for previous years.
How do I suppress Form 1040-V?
- From the Input Return tab, go to General ⮕ Misc. Info./Direct Deposit.
- Click the Miscellaneous tab at the top of the input screen.
- Remove the entry of '2' in "Form 1040-V: 1=when applicable. 2=suppress [O],".
Unfortunately, there is no global option to suppress form 1040-V to print with a specific copy.
Spouse's name is not appearing on 1040-V
There is a 30 character limit for the name field on the 1040-V. If the taxpayer and spouse names are longer than that together, only the taxpayer's name will appear on the form. If the taxpayer's name itself is longer than 30 characters, it will be truncated on the 1040-V.
