Oil and Gas Data Import in Lacerte

Beginning in 2018 Lacerte, the ability to import Oil and Gas information into a partnership return is available.  By mapping excel data to fields within Lacerte, the information can be imported year-over-year.

Follow these steps to Import Oil and Gas information from a CSV file (Excel):

  1. Go to the Oil and Gas Screens 16, Oil and Gas.
  2. In the left navigation panel, within the Properties section, click the Import button.

  1. Click the Get Started button in the Import Guide (aka import wizard).

  1. Click Browse File to locate the applicable CSV document.
    • Note: This will populate the Lacerte Oil and Gas Import fields.
  2. Select the applicable items in the following fields:
    1. WorkSheet: Select the applicable worksheet within the excel file.
    2. Header Row:  Select the row used as your header.
    3. Display data during mapping from: Select the row you would like to display during mapping.
  3. Select Next.

  1. You are now ready to begin mapping.  Select the applicable mapping scenario:

Notes: If you have trouble importing the information from your spreadsheet, make sure to remove any formatting.  Using the format 'Text' will import most effectively.

  1. Highlight the selected data listed on the left column of the Lacerte Oil & Gas Import screen.
  2. Click on the applicable input field on the right column to map the item.
    • Note: If you incorrectly map an item to a field, you can unmap by right-clicking on the input field.
  3. Select Next once all items have been mapped.

  1. Within the Load Mapping Template field, select the applicable existing mapping.
  2. Select Next once all items have been mapped.

  1. Review and confirm mapping, verify the information mapped, is accurate.
    • Note: If adjustments need to be made, select Back to correct.
  2. Click Confirm Import to continue.

  1. Enter a name to save your mapping as a new template (if applicable)
    • Skip Save: if you do not wish to save this mapping or the mapping has already been saved.
    • Save and Close: after entering a name to save your mapping.

To import multiple items, repeat steps 1 through 10 for each additional item.
