Generating Dependent Care Credit Form 2441 in ProConnect Tax

Requirements to claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit, Form 2441, you must:
- have earned income. If you're married, your spouse must also have earned income (unless they're disabled or a full-time student).
- pay child or dependent care expenses so that you (and your spouse) can work or look for work.
- identify the care provider on your return.
- file a joint return with your spouse, if married.

Future changes for tax year 2026
For tax years beginning after December 31, 2025, the One Big Beautiful Bill act will make changes to the applicable percentage and adjusted gross income thresholds for the 2441. These changes will go into effect for tax year 2026.
Follow these steps to generate Form 2441:
- Go to Input Return ⮕ Credits ⮕ Dependent Care Credit (2441).
- Select Children, Dependents.
- Under the section Persons and Expenses Qualifying for Dependent Care Credit, select the First name field to select a dependent.
- The dependent's name, birth date, and Social Security Number will be completed automatically.
- Enter the amount of Qualified dependent care expense incurred and paid in 2025 (MANDATORY).
- Fill out any other applicable information on this screen.
- Select the plus sign (+) next to New Tab to add more dependents as needed.
- Under Input Return, Credits, Dependent Care Credit (2441), select Care Providers.
- Under the section Persons or Organizations Providing Dependent Care, enter the dependent care provider's information:
- Name
- Street address
- City
- State and ZIP code (U.S. addresses only)
- Region, ZIP code and Country (foreign addresses only)
- Identification number (SSN or EIN).
- Enter the Total amount paid to care provider in 2025 for all dependents.
- Fill out any other applicable information on this screen.
- Select the plus sign (+) next to New Tab to add more care providers as needed.
