How to manage Massachusettes e-file settings for extensions in ProConnect Tax
by Intuit• Updated 1 month ago
In this article, you can find information guidance for resolving state-specific filing limitations when you're trying to determine if and how a Massachusetts return or extension can be e-filed.
These steps help you control e-filing behavior and avoid rejections for unsupported return types:
How to control Massachusetts e-file settings for extensions
- From the Input Return tab, go to Payments, Penalties & Extensions ⮕ Extensions (4868, 2350, 8868).
- Go to the State & Local tab.
- Use the Massachusetts section to force or suppress e-file documents and to override the Signature Date.
These settings allow you to comply with Massachusetts limitations (like no e-file for married filing separately) or apply client-specific e-filing preferences. This avoids state rejections and ensures the extension is properly filed.
