How to electronically file Texas SUTA

EasyACCT can create the MMREF-1 to E-file the TX SUTA form TX C-3.
- The state of Texas requires all employers to report Unemployment Insurance wages and pay their quarterly taxes electronically.
- The Printed Employer's Quarterly Report (C-3) option is only authorized for use by employers who have approved hardship waivers on file with the Commission.
- You will need to download and install the QuickFile program from the Texas Workforce Commission.
- QuickFile is an online wage reporting system for uploading electronic files to the state of Texas.
- It transfers wage data in the ICESA, MMREF-1, comma-delimited or fixed-length formats.
- EasyACCT creates the TXT file using the MMREF-1 format.
CREATING THE E-FILE:
- Go to Print Reports > Tax Reports > select Special SUTA Reports > Select TX.
- Click Print > Begin Printing.
- Review the information in the C-3 preview screen for accuracy.
- Click on the Preparer button on the right side of this screen to fill out the Preparer information before creating the MMREF-1.
- Click the MMREF-1 button in the upper right corner.
- The program creates a TXT file and prompts for a destination.
- The default destination creates a sub folder EF under the data path of the current company data.
- Example: C:\EASYWDATA\EFTXQ124XYZ.TXT, where TX=Texas, Q1=Quarter 1, 24=Year 2024, XYZ= 3 digit Company ID.
- The default destination creates a sub folder EF under the data path of the current company data.
- Click OK to accept the default destination or change it to a path of your choice before clicking OK .
E-filing the TX SUTA
- Open the QuickFile 5 program downloaded from the state.
- Select the format for MMREF-1.
- Click on Find and Select File.
- Locate the file saved in Step 5 above.
- Click on the Validate button.
- Any errors will be identified and must be cured before sending.
- Note!
- A Record errors refer to the Preparer information as entered in Step 3 above.
- The Preparer EIN is entered in the Preparer Information screen.
- E Record errors refer to the Employer Information.
- The TX SUTA ID is entered in the SUTA Rates and Limits button in the EasyACCT Company Information Screen.
- S Record errors refer to the Employee data.
- A Record errors refer to the Preparer information as entered in Step 3 above.
- If there are no errors Step 3 appears to Continue to upload the file.
