How to Generate Form 8903 for a Corporate Return

by Intuit Updated 4 months ago

How to enter information for Form 8903, Domestic Production Activity Deduction

  1. Go into Screen 20, Deductions.
  2. Scroll down to the section, Certain Cooperatives only - Deduction for Qualified Domestic Production Activity (simply called Qualified Domestic Production Activities in prior years ).
  3. Select the method in the field, Allocation method (mandatory) (Click on arrow to select from list).
    • This entry is required in order to include any of the corporation's activities (other than K-1s) in the calculation of Form 8903, lines 1 through 6. When you make an entry in this field, by default the program treats all of the corporation's receipts and deductions as relating to domestic production activities.  In case the corporation's only domestic production activities are from a K-1, any DPA information entered in the Schedule K-1 screen carries automatically to Form 8903 without an entry in this field (assumes the Section 861 Method of allocation).
  4. Complete the applicable fields based on the allocation method. The program will automatically calculate these lines. Use fields ending with [O] to override the calculation. Please refer to the Form 8903 instructions and the proposed regulations under Sec. 199 for more information.
