PA local tax

We are a N J firm but have a couple PA residents.  Can the PA local tax of e-signed somehow?  Wondering how PA firms e-sign clients when it seems (hope I am wrong) that the local return needs to filed on paper. Thanks

Paper filed returns kinda means the client signature needs to go on those forms.  If you are dealing remotely with the client they need to print and sign those returns so you need to trust the client that they can understand basic instructions and that they can mail the returns themselves as long as you provide mailing instructions.

Thanks  - but that was not really what I was asking.  For firms in PA, is that how they issue returns?  With a pdf the client has to print out, sign and mail?  That's more work for both preparer and taxpayer.

I prefer everything the same,(all paper or all e-sign)  so we send the client a paper return and have them sign the authorization and return it to us, and send them the paper local return with a preaddressed envelope.  But this is clearly a step backwards.

Am I missing something - there has to be an easier way

The e-sign in Lacerte is awkward as well - no way to automatically save a PDF in SmartVault like we have done forever when printing a return.
