Merging duplicate client

It would be nice to be able to merge clients into one say if you have an unmarried couple that gets married... it would be nice to be able to merge them into one and then rename them with the full married couple name.

Also, it would be nice in case you have duplicate clients and would like to merge them into one...

Would definitely love the option to merge 2 client files into one as in the case of marriage. It's available to separate a married client but I have way more clients getting married than getting divorced. Which is a good thing! I'd like to continue that trend but with all this extra data entry I might not be that excited when I find out my clients got married LOL 😊

I’ll vote for that… but won’t hold my breath

Were they both clients before marriage? If this is the case I transfer the male return and add the female info to it, once married.

I learned this from the IRS: they want the return names to be in the same boxes on all future returns. Most preparers show the male first when MFJ. Which ever you choose to do, be sure to be consistant from year to year.
