In past years I was always able to sign in while not connected to the Internet. I provide mobile tax service in rural communities where there is often not an internet connection.
This year suddenly I am no longer able to sign in offline. When I start ProSeries it says "Internet connection required" and has a "Sign in offline" button. But when I put in my e-mail address and password, it brings back the "Internet connection required" screen but this time there is only the "Troubleshoot" and "Try again" buttons. Try again just brings back the same screen. In fact, from that time on I am caught in a loop and the only way to exit is to use Task Manager and end the process.
Please bring back the ability to sign on offline for 2025!
I've had issues on and off. It seems to have problems going from on the internet to sign in offline, but I've gotten it to work offline if I start from scratch. That being said, I had to get online to sign in today.
If you have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, I think you need to be online because MFA requires that.
If you know you may be offline, before you leave you can log into your ProSeries account and disable the MFA.
Tried that but didn't work for me. Just started yesterday....any other help I have no internet where I am at most of the day.

Yeah, I've seen several other posts that something new just triggered yesterday. Probably another screwed up Intuit update.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a direct solution until Intuit fixes it.
However, do you have cell signal for data? You can turn your phone into an Internet Hot Spot and have the computer use your cell phone's internet for log-in (after logged in, I would disconnect the computer from the cell phone's internet so it doesn't try to download huge updates).
Hi @MobileTaxGuy and @TiredFarmer Please make sure you are using the most updated version of ProSeries. Here is a knowledge base you can review. It may or may not assist in this situation. You can reconnect with support as they are best equipped to assist in this situation.
Not enough cell signal to connect. Thanks for suggestion I have tried everything I can think of even called but all I got was maybe it would be fixed in next update.
Tax Guy Bill I tried to mark your answer as solved and it wouldn't let me. Thanks so much for your suggestions they were very appreciated.
@IntuitKate do you have any other suggestions or can you find out when there will be an update to fix?
Been with Pro Series since e-file became mandatory.....but they say contact support and support says you will have to wait for an update but can't give you a date. Has anyone used another software that supports 172 form and you can use offline that is pretty good? Thanks
Try climbing up on your roof to see if you can get a strong enough cell signal. Or find a nice high tree to climb but be careful that you don't drop your computer while climbing. As a last resort you could try buying a big bundle of helium filled ballons to get you up high enough to get a signal, but remember to hang on tight to the strings so you don't fall.
One of the things most frustrating with Intuit is their refusal to give an estimate of how long they estimate before they get something fixed. "In a future update" works if your barber needs to fix his clippers so that you can get your hair cut, but it is totally useless when you are trying to run a tax practice. They seem to be clueless that we have a short window to get a bunch of tax returns cranked out. You can check out Drake. My understanding is if your practice consists of not a lot of over complicated returns and you don't deal with a lot of multiple states for clients, it is a decent product.
I got the offline prompt yesterday, I didn't realize my connection had dropped.
I think I like the balloon idea better than climbing....I will let you know what happens.
Just-Lisa-Now the offline is crazy because if you keep hitting x to stop the loop cycle after you have put information in it opens up but some of the calculations are crazy so it is a bad idea. Good luck finding out information....not sure who I got to talk to but I was told just to keep updating my system and I would see it get fixed but they didn't know when it might be.
