I E-filed a 1065 Partnership return and federal went through, but State of Idaho came back with a return has already been filed for this EIN, you must paper file???
I E-filed a S Corp return and the federal went through, but State of Idaho came back with a return has already been filed for this EIN, you must paper file???
I have had no problems thus far and I am wondering if this is a system error. A State return could not be filed unless a Federal return was filed? Correct
That's an interesting post. I have seen a lot posts over the years about federal returns being rejected because the EIN had already been used but I don't recall ever seeing an issue with a state bouncing multiple returns even though the federal cleared. If you have double and triple checked that you have good state ID numbers for the returns, you might want to call Intuit and depending on the answer you get, you might want to consider calling the fine folks at Idaho to see if there are some kind of issues going on.
Sounds like the mystery is solved:

The governor of Idaho has decided to do some tax status changes as of March 6th. This is probably causing the problem. Tax returns already filed will be changed WOW!!!! Thanks Brad [removed].
