NY State slow in issuing refunds

I have a client who had her NY State return efiled on March 18 and is still waiting for her refund. She had a lot of itemized deductions, and when I checked on the NYS Refund status, it kept saying it needs more time for review. My client has not received any letter from NY State about requesting information or even an audit. Do I just sit and wait? Is there a number that can be called to check on the refund?

Did they have a high amount for charities? I'm seeing returns that were held up get letters for proof of charitable amounts.

I have gone to that website almost every other day and get the same response

She is a Broadway performer in a well-known show and has large agent's commissions, union dues, classes, publicity and other performing expenses.
