A husband's wife passed away unexpectedly in 2025.   She did the taxes in the past.  He cannot find all the documents to file the last return.   He needs to get her tax transcript, so he can efficiently file the last return.   He has her death certificate, her driver's license, her social security card.  How can he obtain her transcript?

Form 56 needs to be submitted so he can be the fiduciary for his wife, once thats processed (I believe they have to be mailed in, I got a PPS rep to allow me to fax it back during Covid, but I dont think you'll get that lucky)), then he can sign the 8821 to access her transcripts

In other words, the client's return will be extended.
