I am preparing a very early tax return in the 2025 software for a gentlemen who is 73 years old. I am entering in $1,000 of gambling winnings from a W2-G and it is not showing as taxble income on the 1040. Am I missing something or is this an error on this software update?

So...after calling tech support again, this time the problem has been resolved. After entering the W-2G information, then go up to the W-2G summary page, hit that. then go back to Schedule 1 and tax payment worksheet, click on magnifying glass, multiple times cuz it takes you to different worksheets, when done, the income and withholdings finally flow through. Hope this helps other preparers who are entering gambling income. This will be fixed with the January 26th update, so I was told.
wait for an update to the program
I just added a W2G to my own return, it flowed to Sch 1, just as expected and was included in the total on Lin 8 of the 1040 where it should be.
I am having the same problem! Nor are the withholdings flowing through to the tax payments worksheet.
Guess I will wait for another update, just spent 47 minutes with tech support and they did not give me a solution.
Lisa, I just check my version 2025.08.11, is that correct? because the W-2G information is STILL not flowing through - any suggestions?
Thats what I have too.....Id close Proseries and go to the Windowdsprograms/Apps menu find ProSeries 2025 and use the REPAIR UPDATES option in the menu.
Maybe a previous update file didnt install properly. This will dump all previous updates and download./install a fresh set.
Lisa - just did the "repair" and still the W-2G income and withholdings are not flowing through to tax forms.
I really don't know what else to do or try.
Have you tried to add a W2G to any other client files and get the same result?
When did you transfer your clients into the 2025 program? Sometimes early transfers (like back in Nov or Dec) can have bugs that don't get fixed with an update, you have to delete and retransfer for the bug to get squished, but if this was a recent transfer, I dont think that's the problem.
@Kathi_at_Intuit is calling support the next step, or can a sanitized file be sent to someone to look at?
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the program, same thing! I am so frustrated and now I have to redo all my letters, billings etc because I did this reinstallation. Grrr! Thanks for trying to help, I am now at the mercy of someone else at Intuit Tech Support! I wish there was something else I could do, I am not a novice with this program as I have been a customer since 1995!!! Never, ever, have I had this kind of problem.

Hi @Just-Lisa-Now- thanks for the tag. We have reported this and it is being investigating. We have added @Jtax LLC and @psanger438 to this. Updates will be sent out via email when there is one.
Wow, thats a wild ride, this is definitely a weird one!
PS This was posted using the Reply button under psanger438's last post, I dont know why it landed down here!
It took me 5 times doing this to correct the error.
Quick zoom to the W-2G summary, then the #'s will be on the appropiate lines and schedules.

Seems that is a workaround. Can you fix form 5695 for me also?
Thank you, worked great. You are the best!
I just did my first 5695, this now requires QMID (Qualified Manufacturers Identity Number), if you don't have that, then your client is not eligible for the Residential Tax Credit. Have them call the company that did the work and that company would know if they have a QMID or not.
As of 2/9/26, you still have to Quick Zoom to the W-2G summary to get the gambling winnings and any associated federal withholding (oddly the state withholding transferred) to transfer onto Schedule 1 and the federal return. Very odd and disappointing as prior years the transferred information populated automatically.

theres a website that has tons of QMID numbers, it just signifies the brand
QMID Code List & Lookup | IRS 25C Tax Credit Manufacturers 2025 | Rebate.Blue
I use Ctrl + F and type in the manufactures name, to find the one Im looking for.
I just checked to see if the Calculate button (F9) would pull it in, no luck though, still have to pop back and forth to the summary.
As of today development is aware that this is still an happening and are currently working on a fix for this. This is a temporary work around until it is resolved:
Create a temporary W2, enter income... now the W2 and W2-G both flow to Sch 1 and 1040.
Remove the temp W2. Now the W2-G is still flowing to Sch 1 and 1040 correctly.
Also if there are two W2-Gs, then opening the W2 summary will allow the Sch 1 to generate.
We appreciate your patience while they work to resolve this. Thank you for being here on the Community!
Thanks it worked... but they definitely havn't fixed it yet!
