Why is my Intuit Proseries Bacis not calculating child tax credit for my clients?. I am getting a message "Child Tac Cr is not included in Proseries Basic Edition.
It is working fine for me. And that is a really weird error.
Does your client (and/or their child) have any special situations, such as using an ITIN or a SSN that is not valid for employment?
I cant say Ive ever seen anyone report that error either.
When I put that message into Google AI, it mentions Form 2441.....is that involved in the return?
Thanks. I actually called Intuit and they confirmed that its a Proseries Basic limitation. They had it in Proseries basic last year but the rep indicated it seems like it was removed this year
Limitation of what? You cant tell me that Basic doesn't give child tax credit, that's ridiculous.
Unfortunately, it does not. Forget about child tax credit, but even something as simple as the overtinme deduction - Very unfortunate. Basically, in my opinion, proseries is only set to do simple w2 tax calculations - anything above that, i found out the hard way - its a big NO
Basic is a complete professional software program.
It handles and calculates all the things you’ve mentioned, it sounds like you’re just having a hard time navigating the software.

I use ProSeries Basic and those things have been working perfectly fine for me.
As Lisa said, I'm wondering if you are just struggling with HOW to enter things.
Okay. Thanks for that information. I will try with another rep
Maybe i could have problems navigating with the Software, but i am talking of a situation whereby i called their customer care and even showed them the screen message i was getting and the rep got the IT folks involved and they remotely logged into my desktop and they kept me on hold for an hour as they were working on it and eventually, the 2 came back with the answer - Its not available in Basic for 2025, but it was available last year and previous years
Maybe do we really have anybody who has successfully entered and calculated Overtime deduction, child tax credit, etc in Intuit Proseries Basic for 2025 tax year us know for sure. Again, i am not talking about any previous tax years but i am talking about specifically tax year 2025.
Thanks

As I said in my previous comments, they have both worked perfectly fine for me.
Does your client have an SSN or an ITIN? Lots of things changed in 2025 if you have an ITIN, they may not qualify for these things any longer.
Good evening
I hope this email finds you well. I entered OBBB Overtime the calculation is going to fall under number Box 14 on the W-2 and when I entered the amount of overtime it automatically calculated in the overtime section on its own. because it was on the clients W-2
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND.....
I work for Los Angeles Unified School District we had to request the Qualified FLSA Overtime Compensation for 2025 .There were a couple of ways I've tried to enter the calculation on Box 14 I entered FLSA $ 2,225.00 OVERTIME It sends the amount to the overtime section 14a should be marked NO , 14b would have the same amount as $2,225. , The qualified overtime premium 50% should be checked yes, the qualified overtime 150% should be marked NO, 14d should be NO
under neath that same amount $2,225.00
14e Sch 1-A $2,225.
I had to be mindful how the amount was entered the amount if you noticed how the zeros are entered some have it and some don't.
I HOPE THIS HELPS
Hello everyone,
I had the same error code a couple of years ago and IT had me update all my programs under the under the Pro Series Tool Hub. I know before the start-up of the New Tax Season Intuit always reminds us to update all programs that you have installed already on your computer prior to using current year 2025 so I start back from 2012-2024.
I have not completed any CTC yet but I will update all my programs again before completing
Hope this helps.
Quick update;
So i did exactly as i had done before and navigated the very same way, and now Proseries Basic seems to be working for me for child care dependents, child tax credit, overtime deduction etc. I am not sure if it was an update issue or if they did an update later after i complained, but well - it seems to be working all good now.
Thanks
