Roofs dont qualify anymore, unless they were solar shingles maybe?     Where in the instructions does it address roods that qualify, thats the section you need to review..

For 2023-2032, code §§ 25C(c)(2) and (3), as amended by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, removed conventional roofs from the definition of building envelope components. No Federal credits. There might be State tax credits, manufacturer rebates or other incentives.

I’m a bit confused.  Since when is telling the truth considered unhelpful?

not sure how my response was unhelpful. It was the truth and the current tax law.  Asked and answered. You do not enter the cost of the roof on form 5695 - is this a better response?

Where to Enter the Cost of a New Roof on Form 5695

For the 2025 tax year, a new roof is generally not eligible for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit on Form 5695 unless it meets the very specific “qualified energy efficiency improvements” list in the IRS instructions. The 2025 instructions list qualifying improvements as certain insulation, air sealing, exterior windows/skylights, and exterior doors — roofs are no longer listed as a qualifying category

unhelpful would have been to say google it. or maybe that would have been more helpful? I tested the question in google and had an answer in 2 seconds.

Here’s a question? how did my font get so small??? lol.

Have a good day all.
