- Wait for the direct deposit to get rejected by the bank and for a refund check to be issued. If the direct deposit does go through to the incorrect account, which has happened before, your client's only recourse is to resolve it directly with the back as a civil matter because you and your client have the sole responsibility to ensure the account and routing numbers provided are correct and banks may, but are not required to, verify details of the accounts received from the originating bank.
