Question

We run into the situation that form 8949 cannot handle total sales of stocks over 999,999,999. What can we do?

Our client was day trader with total volume in 2019 was over 1 Billion. We tried every possible way, but the Proseries cannot handle that big amount.

If ProSeries can't handle it, I can think of two options:

  1. Manually fill out 8949, override the 1040 to reflect the results, and file by mail.
  2. Use other software that can handle it.
