Question

US Partnership owning more than 20% but less than 50% in a foreign corp. If the foreign business does not have a US FEIN for Question 3a (ii) still efile? I am getting a e-file diagnostic if I leave it blank.

Does ForeignUS work?

    It did not. 

    Error message Form 1065 -p1-3 Sch B, Ln 3a column (ii) is invalid for Electronic Filing.  You must either enter a valid SSN in the format xxx-xx-xxxx or a valid employer identification number in the format xx-xxxxxxx.  The India company has neither.

    If you cannot correct the e-file error and the return is eligible to be mailed then you may have to call the client and ask them if they want to mail the return in... Just my opinion...
