Question

SMLLC not showing EIN in Efile Center

I'm running into what appears to be a ProSeries 2025 issue with California Single-Member LLC (SMLLC) returns.

In prior years, the eFile Center displayed the EIN of each SMLLC for the California SMLLC return. This allowed multiple SMLLC returns for the same taxpayer to be e-filed without any issues. For example, if a client owned two disregarded SMLLCs, the eFile Center would show:

  • Federal Form 1040
  • California Form 540
  • California SMLLC Return (EIN #1)
  • California SMLLC Return (EIN #2)

Since each SMLLC was identified by its own EIN, ProSeries recognized them as separate filings and both could be transmitted successfully.

In ProSeries 2025, however, the eFile Center is displaying the taxpayer's Social Security number instead of the LLC's EIN for both SMLLC returns. As a result, after the first SMLLC return is transmitted, ProSeries believes the second return is a duplicate because it is associated with the same SSN, preventing it from being e-filed.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround to get the SMLLC's EIN to display in the eFile Center instead of the taxpayer's SSN, or another method to successfully e-file multiple California SMLLC returns for the same individual?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Swissandrew  Here is a help article you can review: Generating and e-filing a single-member LLC in ProSeries.  For more assistance, we’d recommend connecting with ProSeries Support.

Thank you for taking the time to post this reply however it does not begin to address the issue at hand. When filing several single member LLCs the e-file Center is not showing the EIN on the 568. It is showing the SSN. Last year it showed the EIN which allowed for filing of multiple SMLLCS. Is there a way in Professional 2025 software to have the EIN appear in the file center for the SMLLC rather than the individual SSN?
