Refund Monitor v Tax Return

GM.  Odd situation.   The tax return states $10,963 owed (and paid).

The refund monitor states  $14,543 owed.

Client received a bill for the difference (which was paid before contacting me).

Any suggestions?

TIA

Youve followed the money through the return and checked the calculations? Youve got a 3580 discrepancy somewhere, does that figure match up with anything?

okay - when you say the tax return says - is that a hard copy of the return or the actual amount you see when you open the return? If it is the program amount when you open the return and the refund monitor says something different it sounds like a program error. Although I’ve never seen that. I have seen where I’m inputting something and I haven’t done the recal F9 or save F10 and it hasn’t updated.

Are you saying the 1040 line 37 2025 says your client owes $10963, and the refund monitor says $14543 owed, and this is after you ran a review ? Never seen that, but I mostly look at the 1040, and only glance at the monitor occasionally
